The Intel Core i7 Exceeds Expectations

Intel Corporation has announced the newest addition to the already highly advanced Intel processors. The Intel Core i7 is the first of its kind and is based on Intel’s new micro architecture, which brings us higher performance and greater energy efficiency than its predecessors (The Intel Core 2).

Intel’s i7 processor will be used in high-performance desktop PCs offering a 2.66 GHz core speed and up to 3.2 GHz speed for the i7 Extreme. In tests both the i7 and the i7 Extreme scored much higher in performance than the previous top of the range Core 2 Extreme.

The Intel i7 processor is the first to run on the new Intel Nehalem Microarchitecture. This new processor has been named after the Nehalem river which is located in the North West of Oregon in the United States.

The i7 will allow you to run multiple applications at once without experiencing a lag and will make the use of media a whole lot faster. The new processor uses 30% less power and will provide a 15-20% increase in performance.

Early studies suggested that gaming might be slower on the i7 than on the previous Core 2, but only very slightly. In recent tests the i7 has, in most cases, proven to be just as good for gaming than previous processors if not better.

The Intel Core i7 processor is the first of its kind and there will be many more to be released, which will have more power and will give a higher performance than the i7.

This processor was officially released on the 17th of November 2008 and will be available for purchase in future desktop PCs. It is a worthwhile investment for those who are using their computer to run multiple applications at once or applications that require a high performance. The newer more advanced versions of the i7 are not due to be released until 2009.
